Get to Know Us

Spotlight Athletic Development is more than just training programs. It is the culmination of a lifelong friendship. Jake Svenningsen, Jonah Karsten, and Tyler Moline grew up together in Sherwood Park, attending school from kindergarten to Grade 12 at OLPH and ABJ. From playing basketball and volleyball in junior high to being in French immersion together, their shared love for sports and friendly competition formed a bond that has lasted a lifetime.

Each of them excelled in their respective sports—basketball, volleyball, and hockey—using sports as an outlet, a place of belonging, and a space to make mistakes and grow under the guidance of great mentors. Now, through Spotlight, they strive to offer young athletes the same opportunities, serving as big brothers and mentors to the next generation.

What sets Spotlight apart is its progression-focused philosophy, led by young coaches with real, recent high-level sports experience. Their backgrounds provide a holistic perspective on what individual athletes need to succeed, along with what all athletes require to gain a competitive edge. From the second basketball group they ever coached, where three of the ten athletes went on to play college basketball, to their current programs, Jake, Jonah, and Tyler have always focused on getting better every day.

Spotlight is about more than training. It is about giving back to Sherwood Park, the community that shaped them. Together, they are committed to creating a space where young athletes feel supported, inspired, and equipped with the tools they need to succeed at the next level. Spotlight is not just about sports. It is about building confidence, resilience, and a lasting passion for growth.

Our Team.

At Spotlight Athletic Development, our team is the backbone of everything we do. Each member brings a unique perspective, a wealth of experience, and a shared passion for developing athletes both on and off the court.
